Every Good Marriage Begins with Tears plot
Two Bangladeshi girls, born and raised in London, are on the eve of an arranged marriage by their parents. Director Simon Chambers has known the family for years, as a student he visited them every day. In a few striking scenes, he sketches the complicated family relationships. The eldest of the second brides was unruly as a child and was removed from home. She still does not speak to her parents, but she agrees to an arranged marriage. The younger sister still lives at home and a groom has also been chosen for her. Chambers closely follows the months of preparations for the double wedding and the ups and downs of the brides, who almost succumb to the conflicting feelings. He films the family shortly before the grooms-to-be arrive in Britain for a visit. Then everything still seems like cake and egg. But when he comes back months later, the whole situation has changed.
