El Tiempo Suspendido plot
Once upon a time, Laura Bonaparte, the 86-year-old grandmother of filmmaker Natalia Bruschtein, knew exactly what was right and wrong. As a political activist, she spoke out strongly against the military junta that ruled Argentina between 1976 and 1983. Now she is in bed with Alzheimer's in a retirement home. One minute she's praising the nurse who brings her milk and cake, the next she's shouting that she's mean for never giving her anything sweet. She no longer recognizes her family. She has forgotten how her husband and children were taken away by the dictatorial regime and never returned. The disease is also a blessing. The documentary is an ode to a brave lady, who for years protested as a Foolish Mother in the Plaza de Mayo in Buenos Aires, holding photos of her “disappeared” children.
