Einstein on the Beach: The Changing Image of Opera plot

In 1976, the opera "Einstein on the Beach," written by Philip Glass and directed by Robert Wilson, was first performed. The work forces the viewer to redefine the boundaries of the genre; a five-hour piece, without a story, with lyrics that are difficult to relate to each other or to the Einstein theme, all supported by Glass's minimalist music. This documentary features footage from the opera and includes interviews with Glass and Wilson in which they set out their ideas about art, opera and music, and explain how the opera came about.
