Eindeloos Gepest – Het Verhaal van Rien plot

Twenty-something Rien seems destined for a successful future as a mathematics teacher and football coach. He is well-liked, has friends, and is fully engaged in life. But behind that cheerful and committed young man lies a deep struggle. The years of bullying during his youth have left scars that extend far beyond his school days.

On May 5, 24-year-old Rien Kamphuis ended his life. Family members and friends share Rien’s partly tragic backstory and what Rien meant to them. And nothing but good about the dead, of course. The fourth documentary in the series distinguishes itself by focusing on an adult man who was driven to suicide partly by football culture. A culture he actually seemed to embrace as a loyal supporter of FC Twente and, as a player for SV Vasse and youth coach at VMC. Willemen opts for the usual mix of talking heads and archival footage.
