Edgar Cairo: Ik Ga Dood om Jullie Hoofd plot

Writer, poet, performer and painter Edgar Cairo passed away in 2000. With unbridled energy and strength he has tried to overcome the contradictions that exist between Surinamese and between Surinamese and established Dutch. Recurring themes in his work are skin color and gender, but above all the unprocessed colonial legacy. The heavily tormented Cairo became an academic in the Netherlands, but at the same time always felt like a Creole folk boy. He investigated the influence of white thinking and the associated language in the mind of a black Creole. With his work he reveals what others prefer to cover with shame.
