Doug Seegers Cinderella Man plot
In the fall of 2013, homeless Doug Seegers plays his songs on the streets of Nashville as usual. But one day he is suddenly discovered by Swedish country star Jill Johnson and her TV crew. Immediately convinced of the magic in Seegers' voice, Johnson proposes to record his song "Going Down To The River" at Johnny Cash's legendary studio The Cabin. When the Doug Seegers episode of the television series 'Jill's Porch Nashville' airs in March 2014, the audience goes crazy. 'Going Down To The River' goes straight to number one in the Swedish charts on iTunes and stays there for twelve days. Doug Seegers is now allowed to record an album with Emmylou Harris' band and will be touring Sweden, from the north to the south. This documentary tells the unlikely story of Doug Seegers' breakthrough in later life and follows him during his tour in Sweden in the summer of 2014.
