Dodengang plot

Near the Belgian town of Diksmuide are some of the last surviving trenches from the First World War. In this death row young men waged a war of position against the Germans between 1914 and 1918. The documentary Dodengang portrays the last five Belgian soldiers who are still alive from this trench warfare. Now all over 100 - the oldest is 104 - the last living witnesses tell about a war at the beginning of this century, which they fought under the most dire circumstances. Wrinkled but still vital, wavering but clear, they represent the history of more than eighty years ago.
