German documentary about the Prussian diplomat and reformer Karl August von Hardenberg (1750-1822) and the great upheavals in Europe at the time of Napoleon. After a career as a diplomat in the Electorate of Hanover and later for the Duke of Brunswick, Karl August von Hardenberg was appointed State Chancellor of Prussia in 1810. As a shrewd negotiator, he helped Prussia break its alliance with France and Napoleon.
