Dick Bos Weer in Actie plot
In April 1941 there was suddenly a small book in the newsstands and magazine shops, a booklet with a complete comic strip. A story with a real hero, with one of few words, well dressed, straightforward, very strong and swift: judoka detective Dick Bos! The black-and-white booklets were read breathlessly by hundreds of thousands after their first publication. For only a quarter you could now get a complete, exciting comic strip. A new adventure by Dick Bos appeared every month. The documentary goes in search of the success of the books and the creator of the comic book hero. Alfred Mazure (1925 - 1974) immortalized the adventures of his comic book hero not only in the Dick Bos books, but also in three live-action and two animation films. The documentary is also about the real Dick-Bos fans, including filmmaker Paul Verhoeven, who owns the complete series of 73 Dick Bos books. In some scenes of his famous films such as Soldaat van Oranje and Basic Instinct, Paul Verhoeven was inspired by passages from Dick Bos's books.
