Der Weg nach Mekka - Die Reise des Muhammad Asad plot
In 1926, Austrian-born Jewish journalist Leopold Weiss decided to convert to Islam. Disinherited by his family, under the name Muhammad Asad, Weiss became fascinated with Palestine and the life of the Bedouins he met. After his conversion, Asad became one of the most influential, inspiring Muslims of the twentieth century and a leading thinker of his time. In this documentary, filmmaker Georg Misch reconstructs Asad's journey through the Arab world to Mecca. In addition to a travel report, this also provides a reflection on the contemporary Arab world and the current relations between East and West.
