On the eve of the Dutch deployment to Afghanistan, an 80-year-old Korea veteran addresses the soldiers: 'Do you think you can take it if someone dies?' In De Voorste Linie, Dutch veterans talk about 'their' forgotten war in Korea. What possessed them to volunteer when the Second World War was just over? Idealism and gratitude, but also very different motives are mentioned. For example, a former member of the Waffen-SS speaks of the 'payment of my debt to the Dutch people'.
