De Vergeten Strijders van Oranje plot

Many people do not realize that Suriname also suffered badly in the Second World War. The wreck of the German merchant ship Goslar in the Suriname River is still a silent witness of WWII. There was a direct threat to the country from attacks on the bauxite mines, food was on the receipt and at least five thousand Surinamese fought under the Dutch flag to protect targets in Suriname. At the time, Suriname provided more than sixty percent of the world's bauxite production and was therefore of great strategic importance to the United States. Bauxite from Suriname was used for the construction of American aircraft. Director Ramdjan Abdoelrahman filmed testimonies of former combatants, interspersed with the stories of people who experienced the war in a different way, places that have a special historical significance and archive images.
