"Radical feminism in the 1970s"

In 1970 the radical feminist movement erupted in the Netherlands. Women were fed up with their opinions always falling behind, their lives being determined for them, and they were supposed to make a career only out of virtue and obedience. Through actions by, among others, Dolle Mina, awareness about feminism was raised and there was a fight for abortion law and contraceptives. Activist movements such as Purple September and Lesbian Nation were founded and numerous initiatives including women's cafes, magazines, bookstores, a print shop and a fund to finance women's initiatives.
