Associative documentary that highlights the history of the Amsterdam Handelsblad complex through memorable events. The Handelsblad complex, a mishmash of buildings with different architectural styles, has had countless functions, residents and users. Not only journalists, but also aristocrats, workers, tradesmen, provos, squatters and yuppies left their marks. The Handelsblad complex is a mirror of time. Its history corresponds to the cultural-historical shifts that have occurred in the Netherlands over the past two centuries. The historic building, its residents and the four streets that surround it are a concentrated model for the entire Dutch society.
