De Keuze van Mijn Vader plot

In the documentary The Choice of My Father, director Yan Ting Yuen links the personal history of her father and his family to the major developments of the past half century in China; the great famine in the 1950s, the cultural revolution in the 1960s, the exodus to the West in the 1970s, the resulting pact between communism and capitalism in China and today's China as the world's largest economic power. A story unfolds in which the relationship between the individual and the collective, the small personal history and the large world history is constantly in focus.
