De Geestelijke Verovering van de Wereld plot
Filmmaker Jan Willem van Dam plans to find out from his old Dutch teacher GCM Pijnenborg how and who he was as a secondary school student. But the teacher, who mainly recognizes his pupils by handwriting or voice, no longer remembers his former pupil. So the filmmaker himself decides to step into the background and put the teacher at the center. He agrees, because he 'just has a soft spot for former students'. The camera follows the teacher in his activities, having breakfast in his own room, in the dining room of the Jesuit monastery where he lives or conversing on a bench outside.
