De Dokwerker plot

The Dock Worker, more than half a century he has stood on the Jonas Daniël Meyerplein in Amsterdam, where he commemorates the events of 24 and 25 February 1941, when there was a massive strike in Amsterdam and several other places in protest against the roundups of Jews by the Germans. One sees the statue, a mighty rising figure, lonely and unyielding, the patina of the bronze and his hands. A portrait of The Dock Worker and of people for whom this monumental statue has a special meaning.
