This Dutch and English spoken report behind the scenes of Dick Tuinder's feature film Winterland is not a conventional making-of. The story of Winterland, around Tuinder's regular character Sally, is hardly described. By constantly having the viewer dig into the memory, and only giving context to various scenes afterwards, the film acquires the sophisticated structure of an essay film, more than that of a making-of documentary. He does interview members of the crew and cast, including actors Tom Jansen and Tara Elders, about themes such as reality, life and the differences between the sexes.
