On September 24, 2016, the National Museum of African American History and Culture opened in Washington. That is 13 years after then-President George W. Bush gave the green light for the start of construction. The 37,000 m² museum is located on a five-acre piece of land on the famous National Mall and has already attracted more than three million visitors.
