Jan De Wilde is a cabaret icon. He became it after his first TV appearance in 1965 and it still is today. Jan is a unique representative of the first generation of Flemish cabaret artists. Effortlessly he maintained his status. Thanks to songs that have become part of the Belgian cultural soul, such as 'Joke', 'A cheerful spring song', 'Walter', 'Hè Hè', 'First snow' and 'Fanfare of hunger and thirst'. In this documentary, Jan sketches his own portrait, supplemented with quotes from contemporaries and admirers such as Urbanus, Bart Peeters, Hugo Matthysen, Kris De Bruyne, Della Bosiers, Gust Decoster and faithful friends/biographer/producer Jo Bogaert and guitarist Eddy Peremans.
