Constant, avant le Départ plot

In the summer of 2005, Constant Nieuwenhuys (1920), one of the most important Dutch avant-garde artists of the past century and co-founder of Cobra, passed away. Thomas Doebele & Maarten Schmidt filmed this exceptional artist during the last months of his life, working on the last details on the horizon of his last painting. His wife, Trudy van der Horst, is his great source of support and helps him where his memory sometimes fails him. His memories pass into archival material of the still young artist in the fifties, sixties and seventies and the past comes to life again.
