Cities on Speed - Bogotá Change plot
An exciting, quickly edited portrait of a city that has risen from the ashes like a phoenix. The Colombian capital, Bogotá, has long been known as one of the most criminal, dangerous and unlivable cities in the world. The turning point came in 1995 when Antalas Mockus was elected mayor by a large majority. The city watched breathlessly as he realized crucial changes in mentality using unorthodox means. He taught citizens to live together and to take responsibility. In doing so, he paved the way for the next visionary mayor, Enrique Peñalosa, who would physically transform the city from 1998 onwards. Dalsgaard combines street scenes, interviews, archive material and animations in a dynamic reconstruction of a success story about two men who, unimpeded by party politics, succeed in turning a hopeless disadvantage into a certain advantage.
