Carnotstraat 17: Huis van Aankomst plot

A somewhat dingy-looking apartment building from the 1920s at 17 Carnotstraat in Antwerp. Once the site of Ciné Rubens, one of the largest and most modern movie theaters in Belgium, today a migrant church is housed on the ground floor. On the five floors above, a collection of windows and balconies whose original charm can still be seen, but above all, many satellite dishes. Behind the front door of the apartment block is a sea of mailboxes and they speak for themselves. Several migrants live here under one roof. The film zooms in on three households in the building who, in search of a new identity, become entangled between two worlds and an uncertain future. They give their vision on migration and tell how the transition from one society to another has affected and even completely changed their self-image and identity.
