Camp 14: Total Control Zone plot
Shin Dong-Huyk was born on November 19, 1983 as a political prisoner in a North Korean re-education camp. He was the child of two prisoners who were ordered to marry by the guards. He spent his entire childhood and youth in Camp 14, which was actually an extermination camp. Forced to work from the age of six, he was starving, beaten and tortured, and at the mercy of the guards. He knew nothing of the world beyond the barbed wire. At the age of 23, with the help of an elderly prisoner, he managed to escape. For months he traveled through North Korea and China and finally to South Korea, where he is confronted with a world completely foreign to him.
