Boom for Real: The Late Teenage Years of Jean-Michel Basquiat plot

Using archive material, interviews with insiders and a special soundtrack that tells its own story, it is sketched how the seventies and eighties in a fermenting New York were decisive for the formation of the very young, enigmatic Jean-Michel Basquiat as an artist. Among those insiders are luminaries such as filmmaker Jim Jarmusch, rapper Fab 5 Freddy and graffiti artist Lee Quiñones. They indicate how Basquiat bridged the gap between the Andy Warhol era, already on its decline, and art forms such as graffiti, hip-hop, rap, breakdance, punk rock, which made their ascent in the dilapidated, drug-dominated New York, especially in the artists' enclave of SoHo.
