In 1972 the band Big Star released their debut album '#1 Record' - not exactly modest. The critics raved and the bluff of this Memphis band seemed to be paying off. But that great success failed to materialize, and Big Star is now a cult band that, although it had an influence on more successful bands such as REM, does not ring a bell with the general public. This classic pop music documentary tries to find out where it went wrong.
