Bellas de Noche plot
"The stars shine when the sun goes down"
The horror is still visible on the face of the elderly Mexican showgirl when she remembers how one of her lovers gave her his socks. "What do I have to do with that?" she had reacted in shock. “Wash,” said the man. She did not make it to the nightclub that evening, the elderly woman recalls. It's one of many poignant anecdotes in the portrait of five Mexican showgirls who were big stars in the 1970s, but in fact still run the show today, with or without makeup, feathers and glitter. Resilience is perhaps their strongest quality.
