This hybrid documentary film sheds light on the life story of the Nobel Prize winner through his most personal novel character, Felix Krull. Mann worked on his last novel between 1905 and 1954. Director André Schäfer completely dispenses with newly filmed interviews with experts and instead uses original documents and interviews with the Mann family to explore the work.
