Awani plot

When a mass kidnapping of schoolgirls took place in Chibok, Nigeria, in 2014, the pressure on Nigerian leaders from around the world was intense. Better protection of young girls and more women's rights were demanded. Awani examines the role of women in Nigeria's society, over the years. Archive footage makes it clear that a number of things are at the root of the current gender inequality in the country.
