Apollo 8: The Mission That Changed the World plot
On December 21, 1968, the world came to a standstill as NASA launched its first manned flight to the moon. At that time, our own planet was in a state of chaos: Martin Luther King and Robert Kennedy had been assassinated, the Vietnam War had escalated, and the Soviet Union had crushed the Prague Spring. The US did not want to lose the battle for space to Russia and so put everything on Apollo 8, the space mission that would give us the first-ever color photograph of the Earth. In this documentary we look back on this unique story with former astronaut Bill Anders.
