In 2014, a Chinese billionaire opens a factory of the Fuyao Glass Industry Group in an old General Motors plant in Dayton, Ohio. For thousands of local residents, the arrival of this multinational automotive glass manufacturer means they will regain their jobs and their dignity after the recession left them jobless. American Factory makes the viewer observe what happens when workers from completely different cultures collide.
