Afghanistan Night Stories plot
Part of the National Army of Afghanistan is a special command unit set up to fight the Taliban and other violent militias. Filmmaker Alka Sadat, who had to get permission from the mullah before she was allowed to mingle among the soldiers as a woman, documented daily life in the Afghan command camp and followed the men on their dangerous, often nighttime missions. The military operations, for which the soldiers can be called up at any time, are in stark contrast to the everyday activities in the camp. In front of the washbasin mirror, a man is whistling his hair into shape, volleyball is played outside and the pigeons are cooing hard in the otherwise dead quiet environment. In their cramped dormitory, the group plays board games and a singer's soldiers zap to Barack Obama, who announces the withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan...
