Able plot
When Kathleen Rubi gets a phone call asking if she wants to be a host mother for two Japanese boys for three months, she has her doubts. Because not only do they come from a foreign culture, they also don't speak a word of English and they are mentally handicapped. Gene has Down syndrome and Jun is autistic. Although Kathleen and her husband don't have much experience with the mentally handicapped, they decide to do it anyway. Soon after arrival, neither language nor disability prove too great a barrier. Shared interests—cats, basketball, and food—are the major catalyst in the two boys' integration process.
