A Cry for Madiom: On Going Genocide in the Sudan plot

In 1998, director Barzilay filmed for a CNN report in a food camp of Doctors Without Borders in South Sudan. At the time, his story was summarized in a five and a half minute item. Barzilay decided to use the footage from then for a documentary about the poignant and still ongoing plight of the people of South Sudan. The raw shots are shown almost unedited, making the impact of the images even stronger. Barzilay films the emaciated mothers and young children who wait for registration and food after walking for days at the camp. In particular, 5-year-old Madiom Madiok and Canadian nurse Christine Nadori, who takes care of feeding the malnourished children in the camp, are followed.
