"I always wonder how artists attempt to portray the reality of a scene. Painters and photographers only capture a single image, nothing of what happens before or after." Thus, Kiarostami began his musings on paintings and has continued to develop them with the photographs he has taken over the years. To this he added things he imagined, things that happened before and after each captured image. Each of these frames is essentially 4 minutes and 30 seconds.
