Spicy journalist Sue Walker knows more about the local gambling gangs than her lover, Police Lieutenant Jerry Brown, Head of Homicide. When the news comes that there has been a murder at the infamous gambling palace 'Lefty Ross', Jerry is on his toes when Sue arrives earlier. Jerry discovers that gambler Jimmy Clark was murdered while he was on the phone. His body is riddled with bullets, but Jerry can't find a weapon. Sue is surprised to find that Gloria Cunningham was at the murder scene. Gloria's father is one of the city's leading politicians and she is engaged to District Attorney Richard Sutton. Lefty Ross decides to give Sutton all the information he needs for his investigation and makes an appointment to go to Sutton's house. Once there, Ross is called on the phone, and before he can give any information, Ross is murdered in the same mysterious way as Jimmy Clark.
