The House across the Lake plot

An American writer living in England meets his wealthy neighbors who live on the edge of a lake. He becomes more and more involved in a plot in which the neighbor, a beautiful blonde, wants to seduce him and kill her rich husband. When the neighbor goes missing, he discovers that the woman wants to return to her former lover.

Nicol and Brooke in mutual 'attraction' ends in a one-sided decision which results in one of the two deciding that there is nothing left to lose. Funny that the film is set in Uk and in the shot with Brooke the steering wheel is on the left in the car. Otherwise a pleasant 50's thriller.
