The Great Hospital Mystery plot
Nurse Ann Smith, with the knowledge of her head nurse Sarah Keate, smuggles her brother Allen Tracy into the hospital as a patient of Dr. Taggert. Ann wants to hide her brother from gangsters who are looking for him. The mobster Mortimer Beatty is allowed into the room next to Tracy's. Ann's patient is found dead, but the dead man is not Tracy but a patient who had died days before. However, this patient has some fresh gunshot wounds in his body. Ann's friend, the hospital doctor David McKerry, and the police, led by Lieutenant Mattoon, try to solve the mystery. Why would anyone shoot a man who has been dead for some time?
