Second Chance plot
Jewel thief Joan Summers approaches JL Montclaire's jewelry store. Joan is closely followed by the jewel thief Kendal Wolf. They both know each other and they decide to work together. Together they steal a diamond worth $30,000. Joan and Kendal are later interrogated separately by the police, who have insufficient evidence against them. Police Sergeant Sharpe and Roger Elwood, the head of the insurance company, continue to be seen as prime suspects. Elwood uses criminals as bait for Joan and Kendal to gain possession of the diamond. Kendal teams up with the criminals, but Sharpe is tipped off about the transaction. Joan and Kendal, now in love, are arrested but released due to lack of evidence. But now, despite their romance, Joan and Kendal no longer trust each other. Both now see each other as informants for the police.
