Good film about a well-known TV presenter who enters into a love affair with a major drug lord. The now well-known story of Pablo Escobar based on the book by his mistress (but the main role is clearly for Pablo Escobar). The characters don't really go into depth, but this is nicely masked by the excellent acting of the couple Bardem and Cruz. Entertaining from start to finish and more than enough good scenes.

Superfluous

This time we follow the now well-known story from the reporter with whom Pablo Escobar has a relationship. Does this add anything? Not for me personally, because the film largely follows Narcos, and has no face of its own. There was plenty of room to deviate from this Netflix series. I heard from Colombians themselves that the Colombian series El Patrón del Mal, went much deeper into Pablo's life than the Netflix series did. I haven't seen this series myself, but the makers could have chosen to focus more on other points than to focus on the story as we already know it well enough.

Although Javier Bardem played a good Pablo, I thought Cruz was a bit flawed. Somehow she never completely convinced me with her role, and after only Spanish was spoken in Narcos, the English language also took me out of the story all the time. American films do this almost constantly, but when the Netflix series did this differently, and you have also visited Colombia yourself, this will disturb you more. After the credits I wondered if I still knew new things after this film that I didn't know before, but that conclusion seems clear to me after this review.

Nice film, but where Narcos feels lifelike, this is more of a copy. The movie is good but the original is fascinating.
