Incident plot
Stockbroker Joe Downey is mistakenly mistaken for his rival James 'Slats' Slattery in the dark by mobster 'Knuckles' Morgan. 'Knuckles' brutally beats up Joe. Joe is arrested for public intoxication and ends up in jail. Joe's girlfriend Joan and his friend Bill get him out. In return, he must serve as bait so that Police Inspector Madigan catches the mobsters. The trio sets out in search of the real victim and they want to warn him, but they become involved in a conspiracy, which also includes the attractive blonde Marion Roberts.
