Children of Fortune plot

Detective Dave (James Brolin) decides to take charge of raising his rebellious daughter Erica (Amanda Fuller) after alarming reports from his ex-wife and has her come to San Diego. Just when she arrives, he is assigned the murder of a seventeen-year-old girl who has run away from home. Her boyfriend, a young Marine, is the prime suspect, but he has disappeared without a trace. The trail leads to a remote village in Arizona, where the men are still allowed to live with more women.
