Matt Scudder (Liam Neeson), a former NYPD detective and recovering alcoholic, is haunted by regret. When a series of kidnappings targeting the city's toughest drug criminals escalates into a gruesome murder, the ruthless leader convinces Scudder to find the culprits and bring them to justice. Working as an uncertified private investigator, Scudder has an advantage over the police, but is treading on dangerous ground.

Pooh... with difficulty finished. For a Neeson film a completely different slant than usual. In itself the story is not crazy, and the style with the tempo accelerations, delays and the music has something. Instead of a straight to the point action film, the film revolves much more on character and acting, but Neeson's strong point does not lie there. The crooks are also just a bit too sadistic and cruel. I then envision such a screenwriter who thinks.; I make them as sadistic as possible, that must be terrifying. Well no, rather unbelievable, besides that they have no depth or noteworthy character.
The film has a few nice points, but as said the film mainly fails on a few meaningless crooks and a Neeson who immediately cannot bear a role that requires a little more depth than to deal the necessary blows. Overall not interesting and not good enough.

Movie started unexpectedly with action then it was less. The serial killers gave me the shivers but something was missing. I missed the story behind the serial killers such as what their motive was etc. I also found the ending gloomy and short sighted. Too bad this could have been a better movie with a little more detail and elaboration. Outside of Neeson, I didn't find the cast very believable.

Anything but special, but I still found A Walk among the Tombstones a very entertaining film. Liam Neeson plays a role that is of course quite an extension of his work in Taken, but he does it in a nice way. There are also nice supporting roles for Dan Stevens and David Harbour, among others. It is especially nice to see him in a completely different role from the big role for which he has become known.
The plot is quite thin and straightforward, but the film manages to keep the tension pretty well until the end. The (double) climax is also quite nice. I found the prominent role of TJ to be a disadvantage. Makes the film unnecessarily 'childish' at times (it doesn't quite correspond to the grim atmosphere one wants to go for) and also unbelievable towards the end. It's really the only blemish I can think of. This is not a film that will stay with me for very long, but I found it amusing without a doubt.
