Stiff and heavy-handed Lemuel Morehouse is a successful owner of a meat processing plant in Chicago. Lemuel tries to pass on his obsession for punctuality and rules to both his sons Billy and Tom. One day, at a party, Lemuel meets the lively French singer Fleurette, who was changing in his bedroom for her performance. After an embarrassing moment, Lemuel and Fleurette become friends. Fleurette inspires Lamuel to free himself from his voluntary slavery.
