Up There plot

Martin's job is to guide the dead to the afterlife. Basically he just wants to stay 'up', but his plans are thwarted when he has to team up with Rash and they lose one of their 'customers'. During their search for the missing person, they end up in a remote coastal town. They meet Liz there.

Ever since he was killed in a car accident, Martin [Burn Gorman] has been trying to get up there. That can only happen if an advisor [Chris Waitt] considers him an asset. He can prove himself by tracking down new, stray souls. The stoic Martin is paired with the garrulous Rash [Aymen Hamdouchi] with whom he must try to show Chick [Farren Morgan] who died early, the right way. Black comedy with a number of original, amusing ideas, but also with that typical British sense of understatement that makes a number of jokes either not come across or not work. Hamdouchi's playing borders on the irritating, but O'Flynn is entertaining as a suicidal young woman. Highly recommended for lovers of understatement, others can better ignore this.
