The hypochondriac Danny Weems (Danny Kaye) ends up in the army and does not make it easy for his fellow soldiers there. He is also head over heels in love with the beautiful Mary Morgan (Constance Dowling). However, Danny doesn't know that Mary is in love with his best friend Joe Nelson (Dana Andrews).
