Daisy Baker, who works for a theater in Chicago, finds a copy of a play that was discarded by two Portuguese playwrights. Without asking permission, Daisy sends the manuscript to New York producer Rupert Shannon. Rupert sends a telex message to Daisy to visit him in New York. Daisy and her two friends, variety dancers Gloria and Maria, then arrive in New York. Gloria and Maria pose as the playwrights' sisters. Rupert agrees to include both dancers in the production of the play. Lena Worth and Louise Hotchkiss, two former girlfriends of Gloria and Maria, recognize them and both threaten to rat on Rupert if they are also allowed to participate in the performance of the play. Meanwhile, the two Portuguese playwrights sell the original play to producer Sam Grohman, who plans to hire Lena and Louise for it.
