"SHOT DOWN FROM THE SKIES...BUT HIS HEAD WAS STILL IN THE CLOUDS!"
Christopher Reynolds, an American flying in the RAF, is shot down over German-occupied Netherlands and is given shelter by a Dutch family. Reynolds poses as the insane husband of the daughter of the house, Anita Wolverman, and convinces the German officer billeted there, Major Zellfritz, of the need to grant her divorce decree. After the court hearing, Anita goes to manage a home for retired ladies and, persuaded by Reynolds, she tries to get military information from the German officer. After her ex-husband escapes from the mental asylum, his exploits are attributed to Reynolds. With the help of the old ladies and Anita, who "remarriages" him, Reynolds attempts to escape to England in a stolen German plane.
