Really successful romantic comedy about the differences between men and women in which the control
neurotic and sensible Abby is transformed by a guru into being distraught, like
he speaks The Truth, even though it is sometimes very dirty. The Manslut. Very direct with vibrating panties and a stadium misunderstanding that are hilarious.

The Ugly Truth offers nothing new under the sun, but I didn't expect that either. You watch a movie like this knowing that you don't have to focus too much and that its main mission is not to be annoying and to be funny here and there. Luckily the film isn't boring, but I didn't laugh much either. A real 'looker' indeed.
Where the film unfortunately falls short is with the blossoming romance between the two main characters, Abby and Mike. Of course you feel from the first minute that the film wants to go there, but I didn't see any real (romantic) chemistry between the two. The final scene in the hot air balloon seemed quite forced to me. Despite that, Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler are absolutely not wrong; rather it is the scenario where something goes wrong in that regard. What makes the film especially fun and distinctive is the unusual approach within the genre. Usually a man has to be helped to a woman, but here the roles are reversed and that results in some nice moments. This approach still manages to deliver a refreshing result.

If the humor is also not tolerable (that so many people apparently still find chewed-up teenage jokes so funny?) then my appreciation is just as predictable as the film itself.
