The Threesome plot

One night, everything goes smoothly for Connor, a kind and unassuming young man, when his old love - the cheerful and sassy Olivia - entangles them in a threesome with the sweet and seductive stranger Jenny. A romantic relationship develops between Connor and Olivia and their love quickly grows, even making plans for a life together. A threesome with Connor [Jonah Hauer-King], Olivia [Zoey Deutch], and Jenny [Ruby Cruz] turns out to be not without consequences, despite the use of birth control. It's refreshing to see an American rom-com that addresses sex without being flippant. Deutch is particularly endearing as the assertive, carefree-looking Olivia. Screenwriter Ethan Ogilby clearly struggled with a satisfying ending. It's disappointing, contrived, and far-fetched.

A good film about a threesome with a complicated and long aftermath. A rom-com with not too much comedy and a generous dose of drama, and that combination works perfectly here. It's an original story with plenty of interesting developments and some great dialogue. A great cast too. Easily 3.5 stars.
